John Costello has been a practising solicitor since qualifying in 1977 and
serves as a Consultant with Noble Law Solicitors. He specialises
in Wills, Administration of Estates, Trusts, and Succession Planning,
bringing decades of expertise to clients and to the wider legal profession.
A graduate of University College Dublin (BCL), John has held some of
the most senior and influential positions in Irish legal practice. He served
as President of the Law Society of Ireland in 2011 and was a Council
Member of the Law Society for 19 years. He is the former Chairman of
both the Law Society Committee on Probate and Taxation and the Law
Society Committee on Law Reform.

John has contributed extensively to policy and professional development in
the areas of mental health and criminal justice. He served for many years
on the DSBA Committee on Mental Health Law, and from 2011 to
2021 was Chairman of the Parole Board. He was also a Director of St.
Michael’s House from 2006–2010.

A trained mediator, John is the author of the bestselling textbook Law and
Finance in Retirement, widely regarded as an important resource for
practitioners and the public alike.

His combination of legal expertise, leadership experience, and long-
standing service to public and professional bodies places him among the
most respected figures in Irish private client law.
